OnRamp is an import utility developed and used by SyTech Solutions to efficiently import records into Microsoft's SharePoint platform. OnRamp provides for an organized import of documents and their related metadata to libraries and/or lists identified by the user. OnRamp works by mapping metadata captured during processing of the documents with the properties available in the schema.

The process typically begins as part of a larger digital transformation effort.  Paper files are scanned and converted to electronic documents.  Those documents have metadata assigned to them (invoice number, invoice date, etc.).  When SharePoint is identified as the long or short-term repository for those documents, OnRamp can be used to load an import file, map the columns in the properly configured SharePoint library with fields that were captured by the data entry staff or output from the forms recognition process.

OnRamp then uploads the content to the SharePoint destination and validates that the file was saved before reporting the process as complete.
